Which departures are worse? Emotional or actual ones? In our lifetimes, we will not be spared any of them. And all of them will be terrible. But they will also be another experience that we should go through if we want to become more mature, fuller, and richer ... And after each of them we will rebuild our lives, of course—if we have enough love, courage and maturity.

Ten Poznań

It is a beautiful and emotional performance about great love and painful loneliness caused by a loss that is difficult to make up for. It is also a performance about wrong choices. It is artistically and musically refined, with impressive acting.

Teatr Dla Wszystkich

And when we expect a happy ending, history repeats itself. As if in the post-pandemic world, Eurydice and Orpheus, despite their affection, were unable to create a permanent relationship: Orpheus loses again, but it is the most painful defeat in his life. Eurydice, on her way back to hell is left with her only memory—the one that he really loved her.

About Eurydyka

The pandemic has become the first globally shared experience, one that reached nearly every individual on the planet. Anxiety and the necessity to be isolated from our close ones, temporarily or forever; being on our own unexpectedly became a collective ordeal. The newest performance by Teatr Biuro Podróży is an artistic reaction to loneliness, to parting, to longing.

The production bears reference to the timeless fate of Orpheus and Eurydice, whose love was stronger than death. In an act of despair, Orpheus, unable to accept the loss of his beloved wife, decides to find her wherever she might be. During his quest he reaches the depths of hell, which is full of rats. He has to face his memories and qualms. In the performance, earthly reality intertwines with the metaphysical underworld, and plays with time, truth and hope. What is real and what is but an illusion?

About Teatr Biuro Podróży

The company was founded in 1988 in Poznań, Poland by the director Paweł Szkotak.

Our intention was, and still remains today, to create new modes of expression, to explore and extend the possibilities of theatre art. We also strive to increase awareness of the life of different communities. Our aim has always been to reach out to new audiences, especially those who, because of their underprivileged social background, would normally not have access to artistic events. With this particular aim in mind, we have created numerous open-air performances.

Indeed, the company has created numerous productions, both indoors and outdoors. Many of them are based on original ideas: Kaspar, Eurydyka, Carmen Funebre, Silence, Planet Lem, Bad City. Others, such as Macbeth, The Winter`s Tale, H of D are adaptations of famous literary masterpieces.
