About The Lady with the Dog

The play is adapted from the short story, The Lady with the Dog, by Russian writer Anton Chekhov. While vacationing in Yalta, Anna and Gurov have an extramarital affair out of loneliness and boredom. This relationship shatters their original lives. Both of them are afraid to face their true feelings for fear of breaking their already established ways of life. Yet this relationship did not end after the two left Yalta respectively, but gradually changes into genuine emotion.

Fu WeiFeng, Theater director, actor. Ph.D., St. Petersburg State Theater Academy, Russia. Associate Professor, Acting Department, the Central Academy of Drama.

Productions directed: Othello (2015), King Lear (2017), Melody of Warsaw (2021), The Lady with the Dog (2023), Hamlet (2023).

In 2017, the director's production of King Lear won the Best Play Award at the first World Theater Education Alliance (WTEA) 2017 International Student Drama Festival.

Ikhsan Tahir, Teacher, Acting Department, the Central Academy of Drama, Actor.

Drama Practice: Othello (as Iago), Cao Cao and Cui Yan (as Cao Cao), Mulan (as General Li Wei), King Lear (as King Lear), Faust's Tragedy (as Faust). In 2016, he won the Best Performance Award at the Asian Drama College Student Drama Festival; in 2017, he won the Best Performance Award at the first World Theater Education Alliance (WTEA) 2017 International Student Drama Festival.

About the Fledgling Artists Troupe of the Central Academy of Drama

The Fledgling Artists Troupe of the Central Academy of Drama is a subsidiary of the Experimental Theatre of the Central Academy of Drama. The Fledgling Artists Troupe Affiliated to the CAD Experimental Theatre was established in June 2023, which is an important measure for the college to further strengthen the construction of "double first-class". With young artistic talent and young students as the main creative force, and experimental drama as the main creative direction, the troupe aims to provide a platform for the creation and promotion of outstanding young artistic works and support the long-term development of Chinese drama.
