About The Inanna Project
The figure of Inanna, central in Sumerian mythology, symbolizes femininity, power, spirituality, and fortitude. Her stories, dating back to the third millennium BCE, are rich with comic and tragic trials and tribulations, highlighting the eternal struggle for self-realization and inner evolution.
Theatre No Theatre brings these ancient verses to life by translating the poems into the performers' languages (Spanish, English, Korean, Italian, Hebrew) and developing sonic creations inspired by modalities of singing and storytelling present in the artists' cultures. The performers bridge gaps between themselves and their personal traditions, weaving a performative tapestry that testifies to essential aspects of human experience. We ask ourselves: may these ancient stories hold keys to unlock insights about ourselves, life, and one another?
