The Emerging Theatre Artists Competition is a major component of the Wuzhen Festival. Eighteen creative groups will be chosen to come to Wuzhen to perform a newly created work on a topic designated by the Festival. The jury will consist of luminaries and masters of the art. On the final day of the Festival, the jury members will choose the Best Play, which comes with a cash prize, and give a Special Prize for the Most Outstanding Artist, which also comes with a cash prize.
The purpose of the competition is a part of the vision of the Festival Director: to establish a platform on which promising young artists can develop original theatre works. This platform is for passionate and potential young playwrights and performers to present themselves, learn from world theatre masters, and broaden their horizons.
This year, the Emerging Theatre Artists Competition of the Wuzhen Theatre Festival is regretfully only open to Chinese applicants aged 35 and under or presenting their first theatrical work. In future years it is hoped the competition will be open to young theatre artists from all over the world.
The theme of the 2019 Festival is Emerge. The three elements required for the Emerging Theatre Artists Competition plays are: an invisible man, a key, an airline ticket.
Almost without knowing, the Wuzhen Theatre Festival has entered its seventh year. I remember that early on, I already had the impulse to organize a youth theatre festival. Teaching in the university, I had a lot of ideas about arts education that couldn’t be realized in traditional institutions, so I intended to hide in my beloved town and build my dreams with my young friends. Today, the dream is truly realized, and it has become the most internationally influential theatre event in the Chinese-speaking world. With the Wuzhen Theatre Festival, I always feel lucky, so I am grateful for that seed of passion I had when I was young. Over these years, I’ve witnessed the seed taking root, sprouting, blossoming, and bearing fruit. This seed is you, my young friends. I always say I hope I myself have grown from just a playful boy into a seed of idealism. Here, I also hope that all young people can always have faith in idealism, hold up the banner of idealism, believe in dreams, believe in miracles, believe that the theatre can change people’s lives, can change not just you but the world, and not only what you can see but also something you have never even imagined. And last but not least, I want to say the words I want to say every year: Long live the youth!

第一条
本章程适用于乌镇戏剧节国际特邀单元、青年竞演单元、小镇对话单元以及古镇嘉年华等全部戏剧节活动。
第二条
本戏剧节的宗旨是：以繁荣戏剧事业，培养戏剧创作人才，提升戏剧作品的艺术水准，拓展戏剧市场为目的，加强国际戏剧交流，强调戏剧创作的原创性、艺术性、探索性及严肃性。
第三条
乌镇戏剧节组织委员会，负责乌镇戏剧节的各项筹备和组织实施工作；
乌镇戏剧节评审委员会，负责乌镇戏剧节青年竞演单元的奖项评选工作；
乌镇戏剧节艺术委员会，负责乌镇戏剧节的全部演出剧目艺术水准的把控工作，以及负责乌镇戏剧节非青年竞演类演出的挑选建议工作；
前述委员会，仅评审委员会为有薪酬工作，其余皆为无薪酬工作。
第四条
乌镇戏剧节每年在乌镇举行。
2017年第五届乌镇戏剧节于2017年10月19日（星期四）至10月29日（星期日）举行。
第五条
乌镇戏剧节艺术委员会负责为国际特邀单元候选剧目的挑选给予建议，乌镇戏剧节组织委员会负责邀请剧团参加国际特邀单元。
国际特邀单元的剧目只演出，不参与评奖。
第六条
乌镇戏剧节组织委员会负责挑选和邀请剧团参加青年竞演单元，乌镇戏剧节评审委员会负责入围剧目及奖项的评审。
青年竞演单元的剧目除演出之外，还将评选出“最佳戏剧奖”一名与“最佳个人表现奖”一名以及“特别关注奖”（最多三名，最少空缺）。
符合下列标准的剧目可被视为青年竞演单元的候选剧目：
导演年龄须为35周岁以下（含35岁），或年龄超过35周岁但参赛作品必须为第一次公开发表的舞台戏剧作品；
根据乌镇戏剧节青年竞演单元的命题创作的作品；
对参赛人员及作品的详细要求参见《2017年第五届乌镇戏剧节小镇奖——青年竞演细则》。
第七条
参与乌镇戏剧节演出项目的剧团一旦正式确认接受乌镇戏剧节邀请，并签订演出协议书，即不得以任何理由擅自中途退出乌镇戏剧节的演出。
第八条
凡是中文对白的剧目，参演方需提供中英文版本的剧本，凡是非中文对白的剧目，参演方需提供英语版本的剧本。不符合上述条件的剧目，乌镇戏剧节可单方面决定是否接受其参加。剧目演出时配有中文或英文的电子字幕显示，字幕机的提供由乌镇戏剧节负责。
第九条
乌镇戏剧节鼓励参演剧目的演出方利用乌镇戏剧节来进行剧目的推广和宣传，在乌镇戏剧节指定的场所张贴宣传海报及剧目介绍。乌镇戏剧节组织委员会将要求参演方提供相当数量的宣传海报、宣传册、剧照、演职员资料等。
第十条
乌镇戏剧节邀请国内外戏剧专家组成乌镇戏剧节评审委员会，投票产生奖项的最终结果在颁奖典礼上公布。乌镇戏剧节主席或主席委托的专门代表出席评委会讨论，但无投票权。
评委不能与青年竞演单元剧目的制作或商业开发有关。
评委会将评出下列奖项：
最佳戏剧奖：奖金人民币贰拾万元整（含个人所得税；由乌镇戏剧节组委会进行个人所得税的代扣代缴）及奖杯、证书。
最佳个人表现奖：奖金人民币陆万元整（含个人所得税；由乌镇戏剧节组委会进行个人所得税的代扣代缴）及奖杯、证书。
特别关注奖：提供获奖团队来年前往国外艺术节的往返机票两套及奖杯、证书。
第十一条
参加青年竞演单元报名剧目的截止日期为2017年7月31日。
报名者需登录乌镇戏剧节网站www.wuzhenfestival.com注册并通过“参赛报名”模块进行在线报名，逐项填写报名剧目的必填信息，确认所填信息完整无误且全部属实之后，提交报名信息；
报名剧目的参赛资料最迟于2017年7月31日以快递或EMS寄往以下地址：

第十二条
嘉年华单元报名者需通过邮件发送相关演出资料（包括但不限于演职人员照片及简历、演出类别、演出名称、团队或个人以往演出照片）至carnival@wuzhenfestival.com，确认提交报名信息；
报名确认后需提交嘉年华演出的纸质资料的，可以快递或EMS寄往以下地址：

第十三条
所有被乌镇戏剧节邀请或参演的剧目所需的完整资料（剧照、排练照、海报、演职人员资料等）最迟于2017年7月31日寄至乌镇戏剧节组委会。（地址同上）
注意事项：邮送方在寄出资料的同时，须通过电子邮件通知乌镇戏剧节，内容包括相关资料的清单、寄出的日期和方式、以及货运单号。
注：其他地区的资料送递请致电咨询。
第十四条
第十一、十三条中所提及的所有截止日期是必须服从的。
第十五条
寄往乌镇戏剧节相关资料的运费、海关费、保险费由参演剧团承担。
第十六条
凡参加乌镇戏剧节，即被视为承认并接受本章程。参加国际特邀单元、青年竞演单元、古镇嘉年华、小镇对话单元以及戏剧小课堂的剧团、相关组织或个人有义务确保演出的合法性。

灯光和音效师都得我们自己带？以及报名的时候需要附上剧本或者完整视频录像吗？
主办方有技术人员根据参赛者提供的舞台技术要求协助进行灯光及音响的简单操作。报名时如能附上剧本和完整视频录像，将便于评委深入了解作品。
